Here’s the first audio installment of TheMeaningOfDope; a mix from Toronto Hip-Hop Legend, DJ X (dj/host of 88.1’s The Powermove Show).
This is the shit we used to keep tapes on pause/record for to catch that song that you may never hear on the radio again. I love the cohesiveness of the mix, matching the vibes rather than playing what may have been the most popular records of that time. This type of shit is what made Saturday afternoon’s spent in front of an AM/FM radio and early Saturday evenings spent in downtown Toronto hunting mixtapes so dope.
He drops some “brand new Super Cat and Mary J. Blige” as well as the instrumental of “Deeper”, one of my favorite tunes of all time, right at the end.
