No School? Cool… Nov. 1991 Masterplan Show Mix
» Published by be.

November 30th, 1991 - 89.5FM CIUT Toronto’s Masterplan Show
- John Bronski, MC Motion and DJ Power
Download the mix here. (Man, we’re too good to ya’LL).
Well it’s “May TwoFour” long weekend out here in Toronto, and a lot of our beloved heads will be outta town and outta commision ’til Tuesday. We at TheMeaningOfDope thought that it’d be fitting to hit you off with a crazy Masterplan Show Mix from November 30th, 1991 to hold you down while you’re stuck in the bumper to bumper ‘up north trip’ traffic on the 400 to Wasaga, your rich friend’s cottage, or Canada’s Wonderland to hit the “beHEMOTH”. Or maybe you’re like me and feeling a little too old to join in on those festivities. It’s all good, BBQ’ing and playing dominoes never tasted so good. Tracklisting can be found below…
Fat shout to David Dacks on the hookup.
This has gotta be one of the dopest mixes I’ve taken in in a while. DJ Power kills the set and the chemistry between our main man, JohnBronski and MC Motion is a beautiful, beautiful thing. Maybe mixes like this is why our homey Son Of S.O.U.L. remembers his Golden Era of Hip-Hop being a lot earlier than 1994-1996. (More on that later). I love how they call out the phone number without the area code. 416 - you already know what it is.
Here’s the tracklist:
Black Sheep - Strobe Light Honey
Leaders Of The New School (yes kids, this is Busta’s old crew) - International Zone Coaster
Organized Konfusion (you may have heard of a dude named, “Pharoahe Monch”) - Walk Into The Sun
Main Source - Peace Is Not The Word To Play
Ultramagnetic MC’s - Give The Drummer Some
Ultramagnetic MC’s - Make It Happen
Ice Cube - Doing Dumb Shit
note the ad for Doug Watson’s Jazz show on CIUT and it’s dope quotes:
“I’ll play and tell you what it is later” - Miles Davis
“Jazz is the only real music that’s gonna last. All that other bullshit is here today and gone tomorrow” - Dwight Spitz
A Tribe Called Quest - Jazz (Remix)
??? - I can’t figure out what this track is, but it uses the same sample as Biggie’s, “The Warning”. Anyone?
X Clan (Rest In Peace Professor X) - Fire & Earth
Kid N’ Play - Slippin’
Ice Cube - Alive On Arrival
De La Soul feat. Vinia Mojica - Keepin’ The Faith (I don’t think we knew this shit even existed until seeing the video)
Naughty By Nature - Ghetto Bastard (Instrumental)
Enjoy.

JohnBronski,
this mix is super dope, brings me back to the super exciting era of music - the golden age of hip-hop….a few years before this I was listening to DJ Tim Westwood back in Europe…..JB - can’t wait till our party together!
