This is definitely one of the illest clips I’ve ever seen. First off, EPMD talking about what they saw in Das Efx before signing them and why they have so much confidence in them. Then, interview footage with Das Efx and a super fidgety but silent Redman in the house.
The real gem here is all the concert footage. Das’s stage show looks very thorough from the looks of it. This show was in Buffalo in 1992 from what I can gather, and the crowd is not only gigantic but VERY amped. Can you imagine a bunch of girls getting down to the Pete Rock Jussumen Remix in a club today? Damn. That and the cross section of hip-hop fashion at the time. Mad rugbys, denim jackets, timbos, etc were in full effect.
Toronto and Buffalo are in such close proximity that tons of us used to just roll there for our gear shopping and the occasional arena show. Lots of these acts never made it North of the border so i’m glad that Rap City made the trek down to cover this show since a tour of this kind with all of these acts would never happen again. Maybe at Rock The Bells, but there’s no way that the crowds will have the same kind of energy and I highly doubt Das Efx will ever start their show emerging from life sized sewer grates on stage.
