This is all about Uptown Comedy Club right now.
Watch Nice And Smooth rock “Sometimes I Rhyme Slow” LIVE. The track where Smooth B goes pretty deep on a touching story about “Jane Doe” and her problem with substance abuse. Greg Nice enlightens on the sweet texture of the the delicious Chick-O-Stick.
All joking aside, this performance is live as fuck. Sorry about the quality, VHS recorded on EP mode was not a good look.
This one goes out to my man Kaeweezy.
Probably one of my favorite T-Ray joints. Watch Double XX Posse perform “Not Gonna Be Able To Do It” live on Uptown Comedy Club.
This is the first and only time I have ever seen this track performed live. The energy of this track really translates in the live performance. Can anyone tell me what happened to these guys?
*Peace to homeboy in the “fuck you” shirt at 02:23
If you don’t remember the show “Uptown Comedy Club” you are sleeping. I swear to god, this show had the best rap performances ever. The show only lasted a year or two, but that was more then enough time to host some classic material.
This clip is indeed some classic material. Grand Puba lighting up the stage with some “360° What Goes Around”. Yo JR, how are you feeling about his get up?
Big thanks to Doug on the footage.
Here is a bizarre piece on the forgotten Canadian rap group Organized Rhyme. I probably should have saved this for “Milk Carton Mondays”, but here it is.
For those who don’t know, this was the former group of the prestigious Tom Green. Watch him and his crew act a fool for this little gem.
Peace to Andy on the clip.
This clip couldn’t be more relevant. KRS One quickly speaks on the 1992 presidential election.
Thank you PBS for blowing up spots with a very “government” name drop.
Peace to House on this ultra rare footage.
Another jewel from the House collection.
Just chillin at the amphitheater. Redman cannot keep a straight face.
Aight yall, it’s been a hot minute since I have posted, so now its time to hit you with some hot shit.
Black Sheep up in the Much Music environment. This was right around the release of the slept on “Non-Fiction” album. For some reason they are performing “Choice Is Yours”, but its all good.
Xtendamix was always known for using crazy camera effects and angles. I cant really get with what they’re doing on this one though.
that ain’t the shit you was playing a few minutes ago..
The last clip from the Snoop on Arsenio performance, and Snoop goes in with one of his potent verses from Doggystyle. Going at Eazy-E on national TV and doing it with so much charisma. Arsenio cussing out his band leader is basically my favourite part of this clip, though.
Below, we have a little bonus for you. A certain lil(extremely lil!) Bow Wow rocking the mic at the end of the show. Remember, the skit on Snoop’s album? I guess they were tight at this point. I actually give Bow Wow way more props than his musical career merits just off the strength of him being such a cool little kid in this clip and rocking the the fucking stage like it was no thing.
Lets move back in time.
This interview comes fresh off the Grand Puba split around 92ish. Sadat X and Lord Jamar share the duties of dropping knowledge in this interview. To me, the most impressive knowledge dropping that goes on is Sadat at the end of the clip, he has his Canadian geography down tight. Hey Craig, do you happen to have the “Allah Is God” toque?
Another clip from the homie Andy over at Rekordz On Wheelz.
