Commercials and rappers. The big debate. Is it selling out or making some ends? KRS-1 preached on this and then flipped and did his own commercials for Sprite, Nike and more. You make the call here. So in honor of the Super Bowl ads here are some old school commercials for you.

that st. ides commercial is new to me…yeah, pre-eniment. i remember actually liking the source a lot in 95 and the grandmama commercial is the ish! had the converse shoes and errythang.

i havent seen that st.ides commercial in years man, that brought back all kinds of memories!! i think thats from ‘94 or ‘95!! pure classic man.
i seen those LJ grandmama commercials, but i never seen that 1 though, but i had a pair of those Cons with the react juice, back in day those kicks were hittin like in ‘94 in the 7th grade!
i dont remember that Young MC spot at all, i wasnt fully immersed in hip-hop yet at that time.
i never seen that Source commercial, but it was ill though. and check out the tracks on that CD!! In retrospect, i bet people never thought that every song on that CD is a hip-hop classic!! who knew?
Now the one that did it for me was that Jazzy jeff Starter commercial, im tellin u right now if u had a Starter Jacket, Hat or Baseball/Football/Basketball jersey u was da shit!! Starter was New Era back in the day!! I seen whole bunch of those Starter commercials and that 1 was dope! But also dont forget, u had to leave the tag on ur hat, it was offical if u did that. back in the day it wasnt all about poppin tags, it was more keepin it on. Just like if u had bought a fresh pair of J’s or Nike’s u had to keep the Nike tag on the shoe, it was the flavor back then!
