This goes out to all those Craig Mack fans out there.

Life after “Project: Funk Da World” wasn’t too kind to MC EZ. So lets celebrate how he was livin in 94. Here is a full length interview with the funkalicious fat funk flav, Craig Mack.  He and Oliver(your boy, Be!) sit and discuss how he got his start in the game, life skills, and important decisions.  One question, why did Mastermind end up in the background of so many of these interviews?  He obviously isn’t Craig Mack’s Dj, and they don’t ask him anything, so wtf is he doing there?

Oliver is definitely feeling that Craig Mack freestyle, but I think there are countless more awkward moments by him so I won’t highlight every single one.  Feel free to post up your favourite in the comments.

I was at this concert in 1994.  Craig Mack had no material out yet except for Flava In Your Ear, so his set was extra short.  Which was fine because the crowd only wanted to see Tribe anyways.  I know that clip makes it seem like everyone was hype for his set, but that was not the case.  After he did his single, he meandered through another verse or something and then asked the crowd if they wanted to hear the remix to Flava In Your Ear.  I have never heard that many people say NO in unison before, it was classic.  He basically got booed off stage after he didn’t listen and still performed a remix to the joint he had just done 5 minutes before.

As per your question about Mastermind. There could be a bunch of different reasons doing with the concert itself or 108. But in this case, I’m guessing it’s because he was down with a lot of those cats. Personal friends with the REPs from Bad Boy and knew Craig also and was chillin’ with those dudes.

That’s crazy to think it was $19 back then, and mostly for ATCQ. Mack couldn’t play Ice Cream Summer Fest these days.

  3. Thun Says:

Remember when Craig Mack completely fucking ruined the last episode of Yo! MTV Raps freestyle? Yeah I’m still bitter about that.

    Speaking about Paul…

Seeing him in the vidz back then is a trip. Those were some good dayz.

When the ATCQ show started, Tip came out, he just headed straight to the mic and ripped shit. The whole crowd was like, “whaoooooo….”
That shit just floored me. There was no “blahblahblah this, blahblahblah that,”… He just came out and ripped it.

i think the ‘flava in your ear’ video had dropped for about a couple of weeks before this concert. i remember the reaction to him doing the remix vividly. personally, i was cracking up. tellingly, it’s the only time i actually remember hearing that version of the song.
