Love that this first clip starts with the Banksta. Some of the Dangerous Crew members tell their stories on when they first heard Too Short and on his street cred. Like Short needs to prove who he is to anyone. Pooh Man getting all tongue tied at the end makes me chuckle.
I am here to try to talk sense into all the younger NBA fans out there. Kobe? Pahhhlease. LeBron? Hhahaha. The guy in this video is the G.O.A.T. There’s no denying that sports goes hand in hand with hip hop and rap music. We would like to hear from everyone if you would like to see vintage sports highlight clips on this site. Please post your feedback as it is crucial to this decision.
Seriously? A Chill Rob G clip? Yes. Chill Rob G talks about the legal issue he and his label got into with Snap’s The Power. Somehow Turbo B became the voice in the song, even though Chill Rob’s lyrics were used in the original European version of this song. CRG’s version was never promoted by the label.
Dee Barnes mentions the rumors of Eric B and Rakim breaking up and the duo laugh it off yet never actually answer the question directly. But, I am figuring that this piece of video had to be right near the end since “Don’t Sweat the Technique” is mentioned. Rakim also talks about what the youth on the early 90’s are dealing with, growing up.
Ever wonder what makes Rob Base and Dj Ez Rock tick? Well, you can finally answer all those questions about the most successful 2 hit wonders in rap history. Our max Alex Winters catches up with both of them for an up close and personal interview about what their sound is about and even gets into Dj Ez Rock’s unexplained absence from the group. My personal favourite part about this interview is that Ez Rock is wearing his promo t-shirt from Muchmusic with his shearling coat, I’m sure Michael Williams is somewhere smiling about that one.
Hey kiddies, did you know that people actually used to buy CD’s by the millions? Ice Cube’s The Predator sold a million copies in 4 days and wasn’t even assured at being #1 the next week. I was also shocked to hear Cube’s comments regarding $50,000 videos. That even seemed low to my recollection.
This is the first in a series of posts which features semi-rare music videos. The actual music videos may not be our forte per se, but we try to pride ourselves on finding a clip that may be a little harder to find than your average digitized vhs tape.
These guys weresigned to Teddy Bear Records, distributed by Warlock Records this was this duo’s only appearance. Label mates with EU who had the smash hit “Doin the Butt”, these two couldn’t get from under their shadow. Interesting fact: the owner of Teddy Bear Records had Rap City’s Chris “The Mayor” Thomas under contract back in the day, as a comedian.
How fitting! Leno just stepped aside to let Conan O’Brien take over the Tonight Show. Here is a clip from when EPMD & Das EFX performed live on the Tonight show. The stage set up is kinda cool with the strewn about fences. The performance is pretty good. Not sure the crowd is into it at all though. I saw these guys on this tour, with Gang Starr, Redman & K-Solo. Das EFX had the sick sewer stage set up. Funniest part of this clip is at the end when Leno calls them EMPD.
Biz Markie kickin it with the Beastie Boys. I would imagine this to be a rare piece of footage. Wish it was a bit longer. I love Biz, whether he’s picking boogers, or singin about being jus a friend to letting him turn you on. The guy is a crack up. His place is cemented with his role in the grass roots of the lifestyle. By not taking himself too serious he showed you can still put out good music and be humorous. The beats on his early albums are incredible. Enjoy this interesting yet short clip with the lispy one.
Humpty acting straight fool. Whether cooking at a restaurant or driving a go cart. Not sure there is much redeeming value in this clip, but goofy none the less.
